ODM Nominated MP Winnie Odinga has issued one of her boldest statements yet, calling out individuals within the Orange Democratic Movement who she accuses of attempting to secretly “auction” the party while pretending to be loyal members.
Speaking during a charged ODM event, Winnie Odinga warned that the future of the party cannot and will not be determined through private deals or covert political manoeuvres disguised as leadership consultation.
Her remarks came amid growing tension inside ODM following a series of realignments, defections, and internal disagreements over the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Winnie Odinga stated that certain leaders “walk with the party during the day but spend the night attempting to sell it off,” a metaphor that sharply criticized those engaging in behind-the-scenes negotiations that appear to undermine the party’s long-standing values.
In her fiery address, she emphasized that ODM’s strength lies in its history, struggle, and grassroots foundation — not in bedroom deals or political pillow talk.
“ODM was not made in a bedroom, and its future will not be discussed as pillow talk,” she declared.
Winnie Odinga reminded members that ODM was built on sacrifice, courage, and public participation, not secrecy.
She insisted that the party’s loyal supporters deserve transparency and respect, especially at a time when political brokers are attempting to reposition themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
Her comments appeared to target officials accused of entertaining alliances that could dilute ODM’s identity or weaken its bargaining power on the national stage.
Winnie Odinga also reminded supporters that the party’s legacy — built under Raila Odinga’s long-standing leadership — must be safeguarded by those who genuinely believe in its mission, not by individuals seeking temporary relevance or personal gain.
