"Mimi Niko Tayari" Bad News to DP Kindiki as Oburu Odinga Sends Message to Ruto

Orange Democratic Movement leader Oburu Oginga has expressed his readiness to serve as Deputy President if President William Ruto chooses him as his running mate in the 2027 General Election.

Oburu made the declaration on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, during a State House function attended by President Ruto and village elders. He said he was qualified and prepared to take up the position.

His remarks add a new name to the growing list of politicians seeking consideration for Ruto’s 2027 running mate position. The contest has increasingly become a major issue within the political partnership between the United Democratic Alliance and ODM.

Oburu is currently leading ODM as the party prepares to strengthen its cooperation with Ruto ahead of the next election. The two parties have been working toward a joint political arrangement and are expected to develop a shared strategy for the 2027 contest.
