Linda Mwananchi Legislator Reveals Who Sifuna Will Hand Power to After Serving His One Term

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has laid out an ambitious political roadmap stretching beyond the 2027 General Election, declaring that he intends to become Nairobi governor before making a direct push for the presidency in 2032.

Speaking during a Radio Jambo interview on Wednesday, August 12, Babu said he plans to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027 and serve only one term if elected. He then intends to shift his focus to the country's highest office five years later.

The outspoken lawmaker further claimed that he has already shared his long term political plans with colleagues in the Linda Mwananchi movement, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

According to Babu, Sifuna would serve as president for one term before handing over power to him in 2032.

He also suggested that other opposition figures who could seek the presidency including Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang'i, would similarly serve one term before his anticipated political takeover.

Babu's remarks provide an unusually detailed glimpse into how he sees his political future unfolding.

Rather than presenting the 2027 election as an end goal, he appears to view the Nairobi governor's position as a stepping stone towards a national leadership bid.

His declaration also adds another layer to the increasingly competitive opposition politics ahead of 2027.
