Teacher Dies by Suicide After Losing KSh40,000 Meant for Students' Trip in Gambling

A teacher in Naivasha has died by suicide after reportedly losing Sh40,000 in sports betting, money that had been set aside for students’ end‑of‑term activities.

According to Naivasha Sub‑County DCIO boss Isaac Kiama, the funds were meant to facilitate a school trip.

The teacher was last seen interacting with fellow staff members the previous day. When he failed to report to school the following morning, colleagues grew concerned.
