Uhuru Kenyatta Reportedly Gives Blessing to Kalonzo–Matiang’i–Sifuna Coalition as ODM Moves Closer to Ruto Alliance

According to political statements made during recent engagements, leaders aligned to the so-called Linda Mwananchi movement claimed that the coalition has already begun consolidating support across key regions, positioning itself as a major force ahead of the next General Election.

The claims come at a time when ODM leaders have publicly signaled a shift in political alignment, with some openly declaring support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid and continued participation in the Broad-Based Government arrangement.

Speaking during a political gathering, ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga stated that the party would remain within government structures and continue working with President Ruto, arguing that the cooperation is aimed at ensuring stability and delivery of key development agendas.

“We insist that we will continue to remain in the Broad-Based Government and in the next government because we are working together to secure power,” Wanga said, emphasizing the implementation of a 10-point agenda, including compensation for victims of post-election violence.

ODM leader Oburu Oginga echoed similar sentiments, stating that the party would not align itself with the opposition led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

He maintained that ODM’s political strategy is centered on collaboration with UDA and allied parties in pursuit of long-term influence in government.

“Personally, I cannot lead my people to Gachagua,” Oburu said. “We will engage with UDA and other parties in pursuit of power.”

At the same time, leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement revealed that discussions were underway to strengthen cooperation with opposition figures including Kalonzo Musyoka.

The group also indicated that it intends to rebuild a united opposition front capable of challenging the ruling coalition in 2027.

Prominent political figures, including Caroli Omondi, claimed that the emerging alliance enjoys backing from influential political figures such as former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, although no formal joint declaration has been made publicly.
