Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has emerged as President William Ruto’s closest potential challenger in the 2027 general election, according to a recent opinion poll conducted by Infotrak.
The end-year poll, released on Sunday, indicates that although President Ruto continues to enjoy a strong lead, Matiang’i is the only opposition figure currently showing signs of mounting a serious challenge.
According to the survey, which was conducted, President Ruto would win the election if it were held today, securing 28 per cent of the vote.
