"Ruto Can Win Without Mt Kenya Votes" Kangata Says How Ruto Can Win Re-election But With Exception

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has expressed confidence that President William Ruto still has a viable path to victory in the 2027 General Election, even if he does not receive overwhelming backing from the Mount Kenya region.

Speaking during an interview on Kameme TV, Kang’ata said dissatisfaction with the President is not limited to Mount Kenya, noting that voters in other parts of the country, including Nyanza, have also raised concerns about certain government policies.

He observed that while many analysts continue to interpret elections through an ethnic perspective, Kenya is gradually shifting toward issue-driven politics.

According to the governor, voters are increasingly evaluating leaders based on how government actions impact their daily lives.

Kang’ata pointed to key issues such as taxation, the rising cost of living, economic pressures, and the quality of public services as factors influencing public sentiment nationwide.

He argued that these challenges cut across regional and ethnic lines, affecting citizens regardless of where they come from.

He further stated that the outcome of government policies is likely to be a decisive factor in the 2027 polls, as more Kenyans focus on leadership performance rather than tribal or regional considerations when making electoral choices.
