The dramatic confrontation occurred during a parliamentary session on June 3, 2026, as lawmakers sought clarification on the government's plans to establish isolation centres in various parts of the country as a precautionary measure against the regional Ebola threat.

Nyoro raised concerns regarding the proposed locations of the facilities and questioned the government's approach to distributing the centres across counties.

His inquiries reflected concerns among some leaders and residents who fear that certain regions could shoulder a disproportionate burden if isolation facilities are concentrated in specific areas.

In response, Duale strongly defended the government's strategy, arguing that preparedness was essential even though Kenya had not recorded any confirmed Ebola cases.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that public health planning requires cooperation from all regions and warned against resistance that could undermine the country's ability to respond effectively in the event of an outbreak.
