A Nairobi woman is calling for justice after enduring a terrifying ordeal that left her battered and unconscious in her home for two days.

Maureen Njeri, a young mother, recounted that she blacked after returning home from seeing off a friend — only to wake up two days later in a pool of blood, badly bruised and unable to remember what had happened.

The most unsettling part of Maureen's story came from her neighbor, who revealed hearing alarming noises on the night of the incident.

According to Maureen, the neighbor reported hearing her scream desperately from inside her house, yelling: “Achana na mimi, utaniua!” — Kiswahili for “Leave me alone, you’ll kill me!”

"I had no idea anything was wrong until I woke up two days later," Maureen told reporters.

"My face was swollen, my eye was red. I could tell I had been beaten, but I don’t remember anything. It’s like someone turned off my memory."
