MP Babu Owino Tells President Ruto Not to Sign the 2026 Finance Bill, Gives Reason

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has revealed that he voted against the 2026 Finance Bill during the National Assembly session.(Watch video)

The outspoken MP said the legislation will make the lives of Kenyans harder than they already are, especially with the rising cost of living.

Babu Owino called on President William Ruto not to assent to the Bill, arguing that it places an unfair burden on ordinary citizens.

“I’ve seen people debating the consequences of increasing taxes on sugar.Our CS said that this was happening to promote local manufacturing which will lead to job creation.(Watch video)Increasing taxes on imports will increase prices of sugar in the country,” the MP stated, warning that consumers will bear the brunt.

Meanwhile, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah has thanked the National Assembly for passing the 2026 Finance Bill.
