'If You Can Lead Kenya Without Oburu's Support, Resign From ODM' - Sifuna, MP Caleb Amisi Told

Elders from Trans Nzoia County have called on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi to resign from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), following their public threats to exit the party if it backs President William Ruto in the 2027 General Elections.

The elders, speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, accused the two leaders of making incendiary remarks that undermine party unity and disrespect ODM party leader Oburu Oginga.

They demanded that Sifuna and Amisi prove their political worth independently, without ODM’s platform.

"If you can lead Kenya without Raila's support, resign from ODM and seek fresh mandate from the people," one elder stated.

"We condemn their statements and urge them to step down today if they no longer believe in the party’s direction."

The criticism comes in the wake of increasing speculation about a possible Raila-Ruto alliance ahead of the 2027 elections—a move that has sharply divided opinion within ODM.

Sifuna, who also serves as ODM’s Secretary General, recently declared he would not support any coalition that aligns ODM with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
