“Quit ODM & Join UDA If You Believe So Much In Kasongo,” Top Politician Tells Oburu After Controversial Move

Lawyer and political strategist Saitabao Kanchory has publicly challenged Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and formally join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Kanchory accused Odinga and his allies of supporting policies that contradict ODM’s founding principles while remaining in the party. He argued that this duality was unfair to loyal ODM members.

“Since the Oburu-led Affordable ODM Limited believes so much in Kasongo, why not just join UDA and leave ODM to those who believe in the founding principles and values of the party?” Kanchory said.

“Why do they want to have their bread and eat it? Let them go where their heart is and eat in peace.”

Kanchory also linked the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s death to a political and spiritual message, suggesting that it reflected disapproval of what he described as a “blood-based regime” and warning that more political realignments may follow.

The call for realignment was echoed by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who urged ODM members backing President William Ruto’s UDA to formally switch parties if they intended to support the government’s agenda.

“Those allied to President Ruto’s side should consider joining UDA and allow ODM members who want to remain in the party to steer its agenda,” Onyonka stated.

Political analysts note that Kanchory’s remarks highlight ongoing tensions within ODM, as debates over loyalty, party principles, and cooperation with rival parties dominate Kenya’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

Observers say the challenge reflects a broader struggle between traditional party loyalty and opportunistic realignments that are reshaping the country’s political scene.

The ODM leadership has not yet responded to Kanchory’s challenge, leaving political watchers to speculate on whether Oburu Odinga and his allies will formally switch allegiance or attempt to balance their support between ODM and UDA.
