Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has come out openly to criticize Winnie Odinga, daughter to the late former prime minister Raila Odinga, for appearing to oppose her uncle Oburu Odinga’s leadership of ODM during the party’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa.
“Even my own biological father, I would not go to the public and tell him that I disagree with your leadership. In politics, you know there is a certain level of family privacy that you try to shield from the public. It showed a lack of maturity. Some of the other things he says have still not demonstrated enough maturity for me to take him seriously,” Alai added.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Tuesday, january 2026, continued to attack her, saying that whatever she says is not the final word of the party and that if she strays, she should be subjected to criticism like any other leader.
The remarks come days after Makadara MP George Aladwa said he is pushing for Winnie Odinga to be appointed as one of ODM’s deputy party leaders.
According to Aladwa, once Winnie is appointed as an ODM delegate from Nairobi County, he will use that opportunity to propose her nomination as one of the party’s deputy party leaders, a move that would bring the total number of ODM deputy party leaders to four.
“I had previously proposed, as we were heading to the NDC, that since Raila Odinga was the Nairobi delegate, Winnie Odinga should step in and become the Nairobi delegate, and that we propose four deputy party leaders, with Winnie being one of them,” Aladwa said.
