RIP: Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s Brother Dies Suddenly — Cause of Death Revealed

The family of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula is once again in mourning following the death of their younger brother, James Wetang’ula, whose passing was confirmed earlier this week.

The news has drawn widespread sympathy from leaders and citizens across the country, but it was the emotional tribute shared by their brother, Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi, that touched many Kenyans on Tuesday.

In a moving message posted on his official Facebook page, Wanyonyi described James as a man of deep faith, humility and generosity, recalling his ability to bring the family together even during difficult moments.

He wrote that although the loss was painful, the family was holding firmly to their Christian faith, trusting that James had “fought a good fight and finished his race.”

Wanyonyi’s tribute, shared alongside a family photo, quickly went viral as Kenyans flooded the comments section with condolence messages and prayers for the Wetang’ula family.

Many described James as a quiet but influential figure within Bungoma, known for supporting community activities and mentoring young people.

The tribute comes at a time when leaders from Western Kenya have been sending messages of solidarity.

President William Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi were among those who conveyed their condolences, praising the Wetang’ula family for their longstanding service to the nation.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi also visited the family home in Karen earlier today to offer support.

Meanwhile, funeral preparations have begun, with the family expected to release an official burial programme later this week.

Local church leaders have joined the family in organising prayer meetings both in Nairobi and in Bungoma.
