Showdown Looms As Moses Kuria Hits At IEBC Over Video Threatening Gachagua Ahead Of This Area Visit

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has raised concern over the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after a disturbing video emerged showing a group threatening former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of his planned visit to Mbeere North.

The viral video, which has caused tension in the constituency, appears to target Gachagua’s campaign tour scheduled for November 16. The visit is part of preparations for the upcoming Mbeere North parliamentary by-election.

Kuria faulted the electoral body for failing to take action despite earlier reports about rising political hostility in the region.

He questioned the commission’s readiness to manage the 2027 elections, warning that such incidents could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.

In the video, four individuals are seen issuing threats while mocking Gachagua’s visit. The group dares him to step into the constituency alone, claiming they would “prove his strength as a man.”

The clip has sparked outrage among Gachagua’s supporters, who view it as an attempt to intimidate opposition voices in the upcoming poll.

Mbeere North has become a hotbed of political activity since President William Ruto appointed the area’s former MP Geoffrey Ruku as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, triggering the by-election.

The contest has attracted multiple parties under both the government and opposition alliances.
