Pastor Kanyari Receives Heartfelt Surprise from Employees Days After Ex-Wife Betty Bayo’s Burial

Pastor Victor Kanyari has experienced an emotional week marked by grief, reflection, and unexpected kindness following the death of his ex-wife and gospel singer Betty Bayo.

Just days after laying the mother of his two children to rest, the controversial preacher was moved to tears when his employees surprised him with a heartfelt condolence gift.

The founder of Salvation Healing Ministries had been navigating an extremely public mourning period since Betty’s passing on November 10, 2025.

In a video shared on Facebook on Sunday, November 23, 2025, the pastor is seen opening a grey envelope handed to him by his staff.

Inside were neatly stacked Ksh1,000 notes—an unsolicited financial show of support intended to help him during the difficult period.

Visibly shaken, Kanyari paused before expressing his disbelief at the thoughtful gesture.

“Gosh, I can’t believe you are gifting me money yet I have not even asked you for it,” he told his workers, acknowledging the kindness with gratitude and surprise.

He then asked everyone present at his homestead to clap in appreciation of the staff who had organised the contribution.

The touching moment unfolded shortly after the emotional burial of Betty Bayo, a celebrated gospel artist known for songs such as Busy Busy and 11th Hour.

She passed away after a brief but aggressive battle with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital private wing.

Betty was laid to rest on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her residence in Mugumo Estate. Her funeral drew hundreds of mourners from across the country, including leaders in the gospel fraternity, fans, and prominent figures who had followed her music and personal journey for years. She leaves behind two children—Sky and Dany—whom she shared with Pastor Kanyari.

The burial arrangements were extensive, requiring a coordinated effort from musicians, clergy, and family members. The organising committee set a target budget of Ksh5 million to facilitate what they described as a dignified and honourable send-off for the beloved singer.

The fundraising process received a major boost when former President Uhuru Kenyatta contributed generously, helping the committee achieve its goal within days.

Key contributors to the funeral planning included notable gospel artists such as Ben Githae, Shiru wa GP, Loise Kim, and influencer Karangu Muraya, who mobilised resources and coordinated tributes from the Christian community.

Even as the nation mourned Betty, Pastor Kanyari found himself grappling with renewed public criticism concerning his involvement in his children’s lives.

Over the years, social media users have speculated about his financial support and presence in the children’s upbringing, especially after the couple’s highly publicised split.

In response, Kanyari began posting screenshots of past conversations between him and Betty, dating from 2023 to 2025, to counter claims that he had been absent. The messages showed Betty updating him on school matters and acknowledging his financial contributions.

In one message from March 3, 2024, Betty confirmed receiving Ksh50,000 for their daughter Sky’s acting school fees. She also expressed appreciation for his ongoing involvement, noting that Sky would “one day surprise you” with her progress.

The pastor intensified the release of these messages on November 21, 2025, asserting that he had consistently played his parental role.
