CS Ruku Lectures Top TV Station After Airing Out This News About Him

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has strongly rejected claims that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited his grandmother during a door-to-door campaign in Mbeere North.

The allegations emerged after photos of Gachagua taking breakfast in a village home circulated widely on Monday morning.

The former Deputy President is in the constituency to support Democratic Party candidate Newton Karish ahead of the November 27 by-elections.

At the same time, the United Democratic Alliance is backing Leo Muthende, who seeks to succeed Ruku after his appointment to the Cabinet.

Ruku addressed the matter during a campaign rally, where he clarified that both his parents and grandmother died many years ago.

He stressed that the claims were misleading and created unnecessary tension in an already charged political environment.

The CS also directed a firm message to Citizen TV. He accused the station of promoting the same narrative and urged the media not to spread information that could mislead voters in Mbeere North.

He noted that residents of Muminji know his family background well and would easily recognise false claims concerning it.

Campaigns in the constituency have intensified as political leaders pitch tent in the area.

Both UDA and the Opposition are pushing their preferred candidates through local engagements, neighbourhood visits and community meetings.

Each side is determined to secure the parliamentary seat, which has attracted significant national attention.

Gachagua has been leading campaigns for Karish alongside Opposition figures following the withdrawal of the Democracy for Citizens Party candidate.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and CS Ruku are spearheading efforts for the UDA candidate.
