Kaluma said Uhuru’s government taxed Kenyans too much and also borrowed too much money, yet there is nothing big to show for it.
He said the country now owes more than Ksh10 trillion, but the lives of Kenyans have not changed.
Kaluma asked a simple question that many Kenyans are asking — where did all that money go? She said the money was said to be for big projects like roads, railways, and dams, but most of those projects are either incomplete, stopped halfway, or not working well.
Kaluma said it is sad that even after all the borrowing, people are still suffering, hospitals do not have enough medicine, schools are still overcrowded, and jobless youths are struggling every day.
According to Kaluma, the borrowing under Uhuru’s time made the economy very weak. She said the current government is now struggling to pay back loans that do not even help Kenyans.
“We are paying for money that disappeared. That is not fair to the poor people who are already suffering,” she said.
Kaluma said the government should do a serious check to know how the Ksh10 trillion was used. She said some people might have stolen that money and must be forced to return it.
“We want the truth. That money was for the people, not for a few greedy hands,” she added.
The MP said Kenyans are tired of leaders who only talk but never explain how public money is spent. She said Kenyans deserve to know how their taxes and loans are being used.
“Ten trillion shillings is not small money. That kind of money can change a whole country. So where did it go?” she asked.
After Kaluma’s speech, many Kenyans online agreed with her, saying the question is important and must be answered. Many said they are tired of paying for loans that never improved their lives.
