Ichung’wah Reveals Raila Was Quietly Hospitalised at Nairobi Hospital

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has revealed that the late ODM leader Raila Odinga was admitted to Nairobi Hospital in 2023 during the height of the Unga Revolution protests. Ichung’wah spoke about the hospitalisation in an interview with a local TV station on October 26, 2025, noting that it had been kept private.

Ichung’wah said that despite their political differences, he and Raila shared a personal bond that deepened during the protests triggered by rising living costs. He made it clear that their friendship went beyond party lines and allowed for open, meaningful conversations.

The legislator disclosed that very few people knew about Raila’s hospitalisation at the time. He explained that the attending physician was someone he personally knew, which enabled him and his wife to reach out and have a deep conversation with Raila.

Ichung’wah described the discussion as transformative, revealing Raila’s genuine commitment to peace in Kenya.

He made it clear that Raila was determined to prevent chaos and promote national unity, challenging the perception of him as someone driven solely by political conflict.

The MP recounted that Raila had attempted to engage President William Ruto in dialogue during a Mt. Kenya meeting, but efforts were blocked by others.

This made it clear that Raila valued dialogue and reconciliation as tools for nation-building.

Ichung’wah said the encounter left a lasting impression on him, showing a side of Raila rarely seen by the public.

He made it clear that Raila’s humility, wisdom, and patriotism defined him more than his political achievements.

The MP concluded that Raila’s vision for Kenya extended beyond politics to include peace, dialogue, and national cohesion.

Ichung’wah made it clear that Raila’s personal integrity and dedication to unity were key aspects of his enduring legacy.

Raila’s quiet hospitalisation and private interactions reflect a leader focused on Kenya’s stability rather than personal attention.

Ichung’wah made it clear that these moments revealed the late leader’s commitment to dialogue, reconciliation, and the welfare of all Kenyans.

Raila Odinga’s leadership combined humility, patriotism, and a dedication to national peace.

Ichung’wah made it clear that, the late leader’s influence will continue to inspire dialogue, unity, and responsible leadership in Kenya.
